There is hardly anyone in the world who does not know about the BTS band. BTS has taken the world by storm in the last years, and it is one of the most successful groups of their generation. There are many girls and boys in the world who love this band like crazy. The band, which came to the fore in 2010, has seven boys. BTS is the most popular band in Asia today. Most modern surveys reveal that the BTS has an audience of around 90 million worldwide. It is also said that most of them are young women.

10. What is the meaning of the name BTS?

The korean name “Bangtan Sonyeondan” is abbreviated as BTS. The English meaning of this name is  “Bulletproofboy Scouts”.  According to member J-Hope, the name signifies the group’s desire “to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets”. 
However, they are well known around the world as a band that speaks out against various underworld events around the world.

09. The BTS band calls their audience as BTS ARMY.

An army is a group that saves people from their enemies. They stand up at any time against the hostile attacks on their people. The and BTS also address their audience as army or BTS ARMY. They say their audience is their protectors. It is often said by members of the band that they they do not exist without audience.

08. The BTS band entered the music world very slowly.

The BTS came to the music world very slowly. But the dream they had were very huge. There are 3 major entertainment companies operating in the Korean music world. In other words, they maintain a large monopoly on Korean music. They are  SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment.
 Almost every successful singer and band in the history of Korean music entered the music world performing their songs under the label of one of these three companies’ labels. 
But BTS joined the Korean music industry under the label of a new and small company called “Big Hit Entertainment”. This company was started by a Korean songwriter named Bang Si hyuk. BTS is the only Korean band to have performed under the label of a small company. 

07. They entered the music world as a HIP HOP band.

 BTS entered the music world as a HIP HOP band. Due to the lack of HIP HOP bands in Korea, their first song, which they performed in 2013, became very popular in Korea. 
But their songs now span a wide variety of genres, from, pop, ballads, and R&B to jazz, house and electronic dance.

06. BTS band songs are written by themselves.

This is something that is less common among popular bands in general. Most bands are motivated to sing songs written by someone else. But most of the songs in the BTS band are written and composed by their own members. 
As of August 2018, RM is the copyright owner of 105 songs, J-hope has 77 and Suga has 75.
The BTS band has so far released about 129 songs. BTS’s songs tackle issued of relationships, as well as social issues like bullying, depression and self-love. 

05. Before joining the band, they excelled in various fields.

Before the band members joined as a band, there were super boys who excelled in various fields of music. RM and Suga were both underground rappers.  J-hope was a well-known street dancer back in his hometown. Jin was talent-spotted while out on the streets as a university student, while V had only gone for the company audition by chance because he was accompanying a friend.
Jimin was training to be a contemporary dancer in an arts high school. Jungkook actually appeared on local idol-sourcing cable programme, Superstar-K, before choosing Big Hit (over numerous others) because of RM.

04. They run social service programs in conjunction with      UNICEF.

The group launched an anti-violence campaign with UNICEF called “Love Myself”. They were also chosen as one of the guests to speak at the United Nationals 73rd General Assembly in late September.
They discussed this campaign in a speech delivered by RM. Since its inception, $1.4 million has been raised for it.

03. The BTS band is the youngest recipients of Korea’s highest honour.

Most recently, BTS became the youngest awardees of South Korea’s Hwagwan Orders of Cultural Merit. The award is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to South Korea internationally, including the Korean language and the Korean name.
Usually only awarded to veteran artists, BTS were honoured for helping with the rapid spread of South Korean culture and language throughout the world. All members of the band were between the ages of 21 and 25 when the award was presented.

02. BTS was the first Korean band to create an emoji on the twitter network.

One of the best ways to show BTS worldwide recognition is by the honor bestowed on them by Twitter. In 2016, Twitter created an emoji for BTS. This was very talked about all over the world. And the BTS audience embraced this tightly. Therefore Korean band has become one of the most talked about bands in the world today.

01. BTS is a resource to South Korea.

Today, the BTS band has made a name for itself around the world. In addition, they are a band that brings a lot of revenue to Korea. According to DailyMail, their gross value is US $3.6 million. A survey conducted in 2017 revealed that one out of every 13 tourists visiting Korea is due to the BTS. That means about 800,000 people come to Korea every year to watch this band’s concerts. 
Also reported that the clothes and beauty products exported under the band’s name bring in about one billion US dollars a year to South Korea.
